Get ready for three days of non-stop summer fun at St. Charles Riverfest in Frontier Park on July 4 through 6. Celebrate Independence Day along the very riverbank where Lewis & Clark launched their legendary expedition more than 220 years ago. With carnival rides, a patriotic Main Street parade, and fireworks lighting up the night sky, there’s no better place to honor America’s birthday than in this charming, history-rich city. Here are three Fourth of July weekend highlights you won’t want to miss.
RIVERFEST PARADE
Kick off the weekend at the Riverfest Parade hosted by the City of St. Charles and the Saint Charles Jaycees. On the Fourth of July at 10 AM, floats, bands, and walking groups start at Blanchette Park, travel down Randolph Street to Fifth Street, on to Clark Street, then down Main Street to Boone's Lick Road as parade-goers wave flags and kids eagerly wait to catch candy thrown from the procession.
RIVERFEST FESTIVAL
From noon to 10 PM on July 4 and 5, and from noon to 5 PM on July 6, Frontier Park transforms into a carnival with rides, live music, and food and drink vendors. Catch a bird’s eye view of St. Charles from the top of the Ferris wheel and feel the wind in your hair on other thrilling rides this holiday weekend. Eat classic carnival fare like funnel cakes and corn dogs as you celebrate Independence Day.
FOURTH OF JULY FIREWORKS
No 4th of July celebration is complete without fireworks. Bring a picnic blanket and some chairs down to Frontier Park on July 4th for the fireworks show at 9:20 PM. Watch as dazzling fireworks light up the sky above the Missouri River. It’s the grand finale of a day you won’t want to miss.
