The Foundry Art Centre’sBlock Party isn’t your typical block party. It’s a world-renowned festival located right here in St. Charles. On June 14 from 11 AM to 5 PM, visit the Foundry to see what the buzz is about. At the heart of the festival is the steamroller printing demonstrations. Regional artists carve massive designs onto large woodblocks, ink them, place a canvas on top, and then press the image using a 22-ton steamroller. The bold prints are then lifted high into the Grand Hall rafters to dry, where they’re on display for all to see. Each print is available to purchase as a stunning piece of art and memento of the festival.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. This free, indoor-outdoor festival is packed with interactive experiences for all ages. Get hands-on with art projects, shop at the print market, enjoy food from the food trucks and beer booths, dance to live music, and get up close to the big equipment used around the city by the St. Charles Public Works Department. Whether you’re soaking up the sun outside or cooling off indoors, the Block Party is a can’t-miss event.
