Legends & Lanterns®kicks off on October 12th, the start of three weekends full of silly and spooky Halloween fun on Historic Main Street. Take a “spirited” journey through Halloween history at this annual event. Brush shoulders with notorious villains, witches, and phantoms that crawled out of their crypts and made Saint Charles their new “haunt” for the season. Brainstorm story ideas with horror legends, Edgar Allan Poe and Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. Sing along with the Angry Villagers and the Ghouling Stones and enjoy Halloween tunes and haunting melodies from the plague doctor, Dr. Schnabel, on the fiddle. Learn about the vibrant customs of the Mexican Day of the Dead at La Plaza del Dia de los Muertos with La Catrina. Don’t forget to arrive in time for the Summoning of the Spirits: Opening Ceremony on Saturdays at 10:55 AM and Sundays at 11:55 AM at the OPO Plaza. The portals of time and space are open, allowing renowned figures of Halloween history to arrive at Main Street from regions beyond. As they take to the streets, the Angry Villagers give fair warning to the local townsfolk - there are monsters on Main! On October 25th and 26th, hundreds of jack-o-lanterns line Main Street for Pumpkin Glow during the festival. Plan your trip now for the best fall festival of the year.
