INAUGURAL 'BLOCK PARTY' AT THE FOUNDRY ART CENTRE

You are invited to a free event on June 19 at the Foundry Art Centre featuring family-friendly activities.  In the parking lot, discover heavy machinery and vehicle displays, where you can safely climb aboard and experience vehicles from the City’s Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments.  Then bring a chair and listen to live music or grab a snack at the food trucks.  Indoors be sure to visit the studio artists, see exhibits, and grab a cold one at the beer booth.

The ‘Block Party’ centers on the unique method of printmaking, using a Steamroller.  You will be able to view large-scale images created by regional artist that are carved on woodblocks, then ink is rolled onto the blocks, a large sheet goes on top, and the whole thing is run over with a steam roller – squishing the ink from the woodblock to the sheet.  You can then, head into the Foundry’s Grand Hall where these magnificent works of art will be displayed while they dry.
